Spring season is in full swing, and as the sun beckons the public to step outside and explore the communities around them, more than 75 artists, craftsmen, and manufacturers at Industry City will be opening their doors to the public this weekend in a free-of- charge event called OpenStudios. This provides the perfect opportunity to speak with artists, view their finished works and work-in- progresses, and see how they have transformed their studio space into a haven of personal expression. You can expect to find a diverse, tight-knit community of creatives ready to showcase the world they live in.

What began as an ambitious project to transform a shipping and warehouse complex on the waterfront in Sunset Park, Industry City is now a 6 million square foot district — parts of which house and bring together innovative minds, while other areas house retail spaces. To promote and support their tenant artists, Industry City hosts Open Studios, a free event allowing the public and surrounding communities to immerse themselves in the spaces of over 75 vibrant, creative studios.

SPark Workshop at Open Studios
SPark Workshop, located on 34th Street/2nd Avenue, will be inviting the public into their workspace during the Open Studios weekend. They provide affordable solutions for artists looking for studio space by fostering collaboration and implementing shared facilities, including a shared tool shop, classrooms, office space and studio spaces with abundant natural lighting. Here you can browse through the works of an eclectic mix of woodworkers, 3D printers, painters, and artisans under the roof of a 10,000 sq ft secure warehouse space.
