If you are a wine and spirit aficionado or simply looking for fun things to do in Brooklyn, come to the
Waterfront Wines & Spirits “Drink Local” event on Friday, February 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. “Drink Local” is a free event featuring four Brooklyn-based wine and spirits makers who will be onsite pouring tastings of their vodka, gin, and wine made right here in Brooklyn:

• Brooklyn Republic Vodka, poured by Kary Laskin, co-owner. Brooklyn Republic came on the scene in 2011, and is already a hit with its bright flavor and smooth finish.

• Breuckelen Distilling, featuring gin poured by distiller/owner Brad Estabrooke. Also a newbie, Breuckelen Distilling began crafting gin and whiskey from New York grains during the summer of 2010.

• New York Distilling Company, with Perry’s Tot Navy Strength Gin and Dorothy Parker American Gin being poured by founder/partner Tom Potter. New York Distilling is currently focused on gin, but will soon bring their American Rye to market.

• Brooklyn Oenology Wines, with Winemaker Alie Sharper pouring Motley Cru Red and Social Club White. BOW is a local, woman-owned winery based in Williamsburg, Brooklyn founded in 2006. This tasting will not only be enjoyable and promote local products, but all proceeds from sales during the evening will benefit the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy. The Conservancy is the nonprofit citizens’ group that works in partnership with Brooklyn Bridge Park to provide free public programming as well as volunteer and philanthropic support of the park. Waterfront Wines is located in One Brooklyn Bridge Park, found at the Joralemon Street entrance to the park.
