After the huge success of last year’s event, this Saturday 6th of October sees the welcome return of Brooklyn Pour; a veritable glorious celebration of all things beer related. If you are looking for things to do in Brooklyn on a Saturday afternoon, then look no further, as this lively festival is the perfect way to spend a pleasant day, whether you are a newcomer to the joys of fine craft beers, or a true beer aficionado.

Hosted by The Village Voice, the Brooklyn Pour will feature over one hundred of the country’s finest craft beers, from the seasonal to top quality micro and reserve brews, with a real focus on the tri-state area, and all are available for sampling. It is a real chance to taste for yourself some of the country’s exciting new beers, from renowned local companies such as the Brooklyn Brewery and the Brooklyn Brew Shop. Ciders are also well represented in this exciting festival, and top of our list of things to do in Brooklyn this weekend is to sample some fabulously fruity ciders from companies such as Doc’s Draft Hard Ciders and Fox Barrel.

Of course, there will also be the opportunity to enjoy some truly tasty foods at the festival food hall, from Chili Dogs to continental crepes. But don’t worry; it isn’t all about the eating and drinking (though we dare you to try to resist these delectable ales…). Also planned are some fascinating talks and demos, all relating to the wonderful world of beer. Author Joshua Bernstein will be leading a sparkling talk on learning to love lager again, and Jimmy Carbone of Jimmy’s No. 43 and Food Karma Projects will be whetting the taste buds by talking you through how to use beer to create some truly fantastic cuisine. The Brooklyn Brew Shop will even be guiding people through the process of making their own beer; a must attend event for those who fancy having a go at creating their very own home made craft ales.

Whether you are new to beer, or a keen and regular drinker; as far as things to do in Brooklyn go, this festival promises to be a fun-filled, feisty and fabulous event. Head on down to Skylight One Hanson, Fort Greene, for one of the most enjoyable events on the Brooklyn calendar.
