Williamsburg is one of Brooklyn’s most eclectic neighborhoods, and its annual WiLLiFEST celebrates this diversity with an outstanding film festival, musical acts, family activities and much more.

WiLLiFEST 2012 looks to be the best one yet, with special events that include the Blockbuster Block Party, a kid-friendly day featuring games, food, vendors, crafts and a variety of fun activities. This event is great for the entire family, allowing people of all ages to take in the action. There will even be a special appearance by the Harlem Globetrotters’ Buckets Blakes from 3-4 p.m.! The whole family can also check out the Rockin’ Kids Concert, featuring the popular Z Brothers.

WiLLiFEST has been a mainstay of Williamsburg for years. Inspired by the street fairs of times long past, the festival celebrates the rich culture of the neighborhood—with countless artists from all over New York City.

The most popular part of WiLLiFEST is always the Williamsburg International Film Festival, which gives both emerging and established filmmakers the opportunity to showcase their latest work to a new audience. Over the years, the event has been the site of hundreds of premieres, with festivalgoers marveling at the creativity of local filmmakers.

“The festival provides artists of all disciplines the opportunity to enhance their careers by exposing their film and music to a powerful audience, gaining crucial media exposure and strengthening industry relationships,” says Michael Herman, one of the founders of WiLLiFEST. “It also incorporates an educational component by partnering with leading New York City nonprofits and offering panels and workshops by industry professionals.”

However, the film festival is only one aspect of WiLLiFEST, as this yearly event is known for its wide range of musical acts that take center stage. Opening acts include many local bands and musicians, while headliners are well known artists covering many musical genres. The variety of musical acts include:

Rasheeda Wallace

Lunic

Rocco’s Midlife Crisis

Moody & The Makers

Adam Ezra

Ricer

Laetitia Sadier of Stereolab

Rivals of the Peacemaker

NCM

Another feature of WiLLiFEST 2012 will be a special presentation of Woody Allen’s “Radio Days,” a 1987 film about the golden age of radio. This classic movie stars Seth Green, Julie Kavner, Danny Aiello, Mia Farrow and William H. Macy. Plus, there’s a ton of great art exhibits, street fairs, fashion shows, educational panels and more to take in.
